The Lakers 3: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum

Craig Snyder
Kobe Bryant: Nothing needs to be said about this player. Kobe is the best player in basketball and has been for years. He is the best single scorer in the NBA and his championships prove his worth. No case meeds to be made here.

Pau Gasol: Pau Gasol was basically stolen from the Memphis Grizzlies. Gasol is both an offensive and defensive threat, easily capable of putting up a 20 point, 10 rebound line. Gasol is a fierce post presence that is also not afraid to shoot the 15 ft. jumper and knock it down. Gasol is a player that demands a double team. The problem with putting double teams on Pau Gasol is that he is an amazing passer and has teammates like Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum.

Andrew Bynum: This year has already started out as a breakout for Bynum. Bynum is a physical young player who is going to rebound, block shots, and simply wear out defenders in the post. Bynum is completely capable of averaging 3 blocks per game for the season, and altering many more. I would not be surprised if he averages more rebounds and blocks than Gasol this year, leaving the scoring privileged to Pau which would likely more play into the veterans' taste.

After the Celtics, everyone is looking to get a "big 3," and this combination of players is just as capable as Allen, Pierce, and Garnett. What is scary is that these are not the only players the Lakers have. The Lakers also have Lamar Odom coming off the bench, a player who is likely a starter on 90% of NBA teams. With that option, the Lakers could always have 3 big time scoring threats on the floor at a time, while still rotating to give players their rest. Also on the bench are threats like Trevor Ariza and Sasha Vujacic, who are both offensively and defensively talented. The Lakers truly have no excuse in not winning the NBA championship this season.
