The Lakers Do Not Need a Better Point Guard

Andrew Ng
Los Angeles Laker fans hate that if they had a better point guard on the roster they would have the best starting line up in the NBA with 5 all-stars what they do not remember or care about is without Derek Fisher the Lakers would have not won that many games or championships. He has came through time and time again in the clutch. Remember back in 04 when he nailed the .02 jumper to give the Lakers the momentum to go back to the Western Conference finals then to the NBA Finals vs the Detroit Pistons? Remember this past finals against Orlando when he hit that 3 pointer to give LA the lead in the closing minutes of game 5? He has done it time and time again hitting the big shots that Fisher could have been the real MVP of the Los Angeles Lakers because his locker room experience is irreplaceable.

Derek makes the passes takes the big shots and despite getting older and not playing good D he still dives for balls like he was younger all he cares about is winning titles. That is the type of player the Lakers need on their team not another all-star that needs to get his Derek can play a minute and if the Lakers win he is happy. Do you honestly think Chris Paul would be happy with only 26 minutes? No, it is great as a fan to dream of having an all-star line up but the truth is we do not need one in the triangle offense we need a leader someone for the younger players to look at when trouble starts someone to make the big plays Kobe maybe our MVP but Derek Fisher is the heart and soul of that team do not forget that because Kobe finally won a ring without Shaq but he hasn't won a title without Fisher or even left the first round of the NBA finals. People say that Kobe Byrant is the biggest steal of the 96 draft I saw Fisher is the second the stats may not say so but the winning and the leadership does.
