When in Australia you must visit many of the Australian beaches along the eastern coast. They are some of the most beautiful in the world. Around the Sydney area, check out Manly and Bondi Beaches. If you choose to go a bit north, stop at The Entrance. The Entrance is a small coastal town and you will enjoy every minute of the sights and sounds there.
Also in the Sydney area, another must see is the Blue Mountains range. They are only a two to three hour drive from Sydney in which you will go through several outback towns as you travel there. Katoomba is particularly nice and is where you can visit The Three Sisters, a rock formation. In the Blue Mountains there are many unique small towns to visit so it's worth staying there a few days. If you are unable to drive, regular train rides are available from Sydney and surrounding suburbs to the Blue Mountains. Dress warm because it can get cold.
You will find many sights in and around the Sydney area. Before coming, check out budget accommodation. You will find many places that offer student rates or backpacker accommodation. This could be a very affordable option.
Be sure to bring appropriate dress depending on what time of year you are traveling to Australia. Most people believe Australia is hot year round but this is not the cause. In winter time, which lasts between June - August, can be windy, rainy, and cold. Bring long sleeve shirts, long pants, umbrella, jacket, gloves, etc during this time as you will have some cold days and nights. Summer time is quite hot and humid and lasts from December - February. if you do not handle heat well then coming at a different time of the year would be a better option for you.
No matter when you come, you will have an amazing trip. Sydney is wonderful and you will find that your holiday will be worth every penny. Australia is where memories are made. Happy traveling!
