Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) makes an awesome discovery to a past TV show that was so stupid it had to be made into a movie. The Land of the Lost.
The Land of the Lost was destructive to a stupid after school show. Silly and retarded "Land of the Lost" TV show was mindless child fare. This Will Ferrell version is just mindless. Having countless sexual jokes as well as colorful metaphors (phrase stolen from Star Trek: Voyage Home) this movie decided to go way below the really low expectations I had already set. The rare moments it was actually funny were eclipsed by how unfunny and how stupid the rest were. This should have been the second movie I walked out of that Will Ferrell was in, but I did not want to go home in rush hour traffic, so I stayed.
There were mild moments of humor and that was with the T-Rex and Chaka (Jorma Taccone) and that's about it. They had so much to work with that they could have touched upon and mocked. This TV show was horrible in graphics and in story. I watched it because it was something to watch and for some reason I was entertained by it, but it was terrible overall. The Land of the Lost didn't even venture into mocking or teasing it as it should have.
What could have been a witty, dorky throwback to what was, was instead a film that shouldn't be confused with funny or entertaining. I did not make that mistake and I would want others to not fall prey to that either. Do not be drawn to this movie it only shares the title of the TV show and a few characters and that, my little audience, is all.
