The Language God Speaks

One I Can Understand

Tussy
Each time I pray, there is this little bit of worry that bugs me. Am worried that am not praying correctly. You see, people often tell me that "God told me" to do this or that in their prayer. This is usually told with a great deal of certainty and confidence. Please don't get me wrong: am happy for my fellow believers who find delight in having a "personal" conversation with God; I just wish God would speak to me, too, in the same personal way. I wanted God to give me a straight forward answers to all my questions in His own language. But God's language when He "speaks" to me sounded, suspiciously, like my very own. Then I recalled a short story in my second grade catechism class when I was eight. Remembering the story, during the wake of my catechism teacher, gave me a fresh perspective on what has been bothering me all these years.

Once there was a farm full of roosters. The roosters fought constantly, and the farm was very chaotic. God decided to do something about it: God sent a rooster from heaven. The rooster from heaven explain that the roosters must learn to live in peace. The farm roosters listened because the rooster from heaven has spoken to them in rooster's words, so they could understand. In the same manner that when God wanted to speak to mankind, He sent His Son who speaks in people language so we could all understand.

Therefore, I need not be suspicious when God speaks to me in a language I can understand. That is the only way I will get His message!

God speaks to us in many ways. Sometimes through the Bible, sometimes through people, sometimes in dreams; He's a wonder!! But an awesome wonder. I continue to pray for understanding & my continued growth in Him. Nice article :)

God doesn't speak the same way every time and to every person. Look at the examples of ways He communicated throughout the Bible. He spoke through a dream to Jacob, through a vision to Peter, through a prophet to His people, through a face-to-face conversation with Moses and Abraham, through a burning bush to Moses, through angels to Mary and Joseph, through the Scriptures to the wisemen, through an audible voice to Samuel. In every case, God spoke their language, because as you said, He wants us to understand.

I have pondered this myself, Genalin!
