The Lasko 5115 Remote Control Ceramic Tower: A Safe Space Heater Review

Shopping for a portable heater can be a daunting process. There are numerous space heaters on the market. With so many varying sizes and features, it can be difficult to narrow down the choices. The first thing to consider with a portable heater is safety. Turning off when knocked over is a safety feature that is on most newer models of space heaters. However, that isn't the only safety concern.

The Lasko remote control ceramic tower heater (model number 5115) was purchased to heat a friend's six foot by eight foot wooden storage building. I chose this model based on the reviews, which were dead on. The heater's performance was amazing.

The Lasko 5115's heating elements aren't clearly visible. Many portable heaters have exposed heating elements that a child or animal could easily burn themselves on. But more than that, the heaters with visible heating elements are more likely to catch fire. Even if the curtains are kept away, there are other dangers. This is why an enclosed heater is safer.

Aside from safety, another important issue with a portable heater is how much space it can heat. Many space heaters simply can not propel the heat out into the room. The Lasko heater can be set to osculate, evenly heating an entire room. Even though my friend didn't use the osculating feature, he said that the heater still evenly heated the building.

The heater also comes with a handy remote control. At first thought, a remote control may seem unnecessary. However, it's great to simply grab the remote and make the change you need without having to stop what you are doing.

Unlike many other space heaters, the Lasko 5115 can be set to varying degrees. This means no more constantly flipping it on and off in an attempt to achieve the desired temperature. There is also a high and low option for the fan.

Noise isn't usually a concern with space heaters, but some do rattle when used. The Lasko heater is so quiet, as if it isn't running. This would make a great space heater to use in a bedroom overnight. Since the heater has a timer, it wouldn't have to be used for the entire night.

Surprisingly, this heater didn't dramatically increase my friend's electric bill. This was a shock because the storage building isn't insulated.

Considering all of the benefits, the Lasko 5115 would make an excellent gift for someone who needs extra heating in their home.
