The Last Airbender Review Scores New M. Night Shyamalan Low

Robert Dougherty
The Last Airbender review rulings are typical for M. Night Shyamalan. With The Last Airbender review scores, M. Night Shyamalan may have hit a new low, as many Last Airbender reviews say this should end his career. However, his name is still well-known enough for him to keep working, at least for a while longer. At the least, this movie could be a death knell for any hopes of him returning to his old self. Judging by The Last Airbender review comments, M. Night Shyamalan has done the impossible and made summer 2010 even worse.

The former Sixth Sense mastermind has been sliding in popularity, and critical good graces, ever since The Village. It appeared that he had sunk as low as he could get with The Happening two years ago, but that appears to be wrong. Compared to The Last Airbender review scores, The Happening was M. Night Shyamalan's masterpiece.

This was his first special effects-driven film, and it was supposed to start a trilogy based on the hit Nickelodeon anime. But, after this, Shyamalan probably won't be allowed to make parts two and three - at least critics hope he doesn't.

The film won't be released until tomorrow, yet The Last Airbender review consensus is already clear. Rotten Tomatoes has it at a mere 6 percent, with three positive reviews out of 54.

Weeks ago, Armond White and Cole Smithey were scorned for being the only two to bash Toy Story 3. By that logic, USA TODAY's Scott Bowles, Cinema Blend's Joshua Tyler, and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Colin Covert would be scorned for going against the M. Night Shyamalan bashing.

Even if The Last Airbender review count improves by tomorrow, Shyamalan will surely get the lowest scores of his career. Yet, the blame isn't limited to him, as all of the actors are also bashed, especially the child actors. However, everyone says they don't have much to work with.

M. Night Shyamalan still gets praised occasionally for his directorial style. But, The Last Airbender review comments signal that he can't be a writer/director anymore. The consensus is that his script is incompetent, as it is nearly 100 percent exposition for the mythology and for the next two movies. Even the visuals are bashed, particularly because of the last-minute 3-D conversion.

The odds against The Last Airbender review scores being high were long enough already. But there was some hope that M. Night Shyamalan wouldn't get it this badly, and could start climbing back to respectability. Instead, he has gotten the worst reviews of summer 2010, and worse reviews than The Village, Lady in the Water and The Happening combined - which was supposed to be impossible.

The Last Airbender review totals are 10 times worse than Twilight: Eclipse on Rotten Tomatoes. That is just one final sign that the decline of M. Night Shyamalan is fully complete, and may be permanent.

This is so depressing for poor M. Night. That guy just can't catch a break. Ever since the Sixth Sense, it's just be downhill.

Wow! The reviews are truly horrific! And I was looking forward to this also.
