5. Andre 3000
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia Andre was an only child. He has been rapping since high school, that's where he met Antwan "Big Bio" Patten. They would have rap battles after school. With the time that they spent battling each other, they became friends. That when they formed the famous group Outkast. After graduating high school they signed to La Face Records and released "Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik," and instant hit. Since they have had major hits such as "Ms. Jackson," "Hey Ya!," and " The Way you Move." Andre has since become involved with singer Erykah Badu. He is now working on a Solo album set to drop in 2009.

6. Big L
Big L (or Lamont Colman) grew up in Harlem, New York. He says Run DMC, and Big Daddy Kane hugely influenced him. He started rapping with the group Three the Hard Way but split because they weren't taking it serious. That's when he went solo. He join with the group D.I.T.C. witch also had famous rapper Fat Joe in it. From there is where he grew as a local legend. After success of his first solo album "Lifestyles of the Poor and Dangerous," Big L got national attention. Tragically he was shot outside of a barbershop in 2000. The shooter had mistaken him for his brother who was serving a prison sentence at the time. His brother hasn't commented on fallen rap star.

7. DMX
DMX grew up in foster-care at an early age. Although unpopular until 1997 DMX's first record deal came in 1991 with Columbia Records, in 1997 he made an appearance on LL Cool J's "4, 3, 2, 1," witch started his career. He then signed with Def Jam and has released 7 albums with them. Many say his first "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" is his best one. He is now working on extending his acting career.

8. LL Cool J
"The Vet" LL has been making music since 1985. He first made it big with the single "I Can't live Without My Radio." There is where he signed on as the newly formed Def Jam's first artist. Since then he has put out 12 albums and is currently working on his 13 studio album. He has made a trend for sex appeal and pop but has recently stated that he plans to "Roughen the game up."

9. Lil Wayne
Born in 1982, he is the youngest on the list. He's known for starting the rap group Hot Boys in 1997, under the record label Cash Money Records where he is still at today. His debut album with the group went certified double platinum and his career was started. After his first solo album "The Block Is Hot " in 1999 he hasn't slowed down yet.

10. Snoop Dog
Snoop got his start with Dr.Dre on the popular songs "Deep Cover," and " Ain't Nothing But a G Thang." He was introduced to Dre by His friend and Dre's cousin Warren G. after is first album "Doggy Style," Snoop proved that he can hold his own in a full length album.
