The Late Jerry Garcia Lives On - In Court!
The lawsuit was filed in Marin County Superior Court on January 31st. Koons Garcia would like to get the tapes into her possession so that she can professionally restore the unpublished tapes, dubbed "The Garcia Tapes", and release them to the public. She has tried hard to access these tapes but others in the limited liability corporation have been slow to respond and work with her to come to a solution.
This is the latest legal battle between Deborah Koons Garcia and the corporation. Koons Garcia would like to see the corporation disappear because she feels that they are no good. The corporation has sued Koons Garcia in an effort to keep the corporation standing. Even the deceased rocker's daughter has sued her own mother. Keelin Noel Garcia filed a lawsuit against her mother claiming that she has done a poor job of financially managing the former estate of Jerry Garcia.
With the latest lawsuit by Deborah Koons Garcia, things continue to get messy between the family. There appears to be a lot of different opinions among family members with what to do. Nobody wants to work together and that is why more and more lawsuits keep occurring. The first hearing for the latest lawsuit will not be heard until the month of April. The lawyers for both sides could not be reached for comment.
Jerry Garcia came to fame by being a member of Grateful Dead. His amazing guitar styling and rifts helped make him a cult icon. The ice cream company Ben & Jerry's has even named an ice cream after the legend.

Keelin Garcia is the daughter of Jerry Garcia and Manasha Matheson. Garcia never married Matheson.
