The Latest Hollywood Engagement and Baby News; Oprah's Family Secret Revealed

Weddings and Babies

Best to start off the week right with the latest to join the ranks of Hollywood's engaged and soon-to-be parents.

First off, Emma Bunton is engaged! . . . Alright, let's try that again. Baby Spice is engaged! There we go.

The former Spice Girls member took to her Twitter (apparently the social network is the new version of a press release) to announce her engagement to boyfriend Jade Jones, including a photo of the diamond-studded ring. See it here. This is the second round of happy news for Bunton, as she announced back in November (yes, also via Twitter) that she and Jones were expecting their second child together. The couple has a 3-year-old son, and this latest bundle of joy is expected in May.

Ivanka Trump is the latest celebrity to join the already full-to-the-brim Hollywood baby boom. Trump made the announcement on Friday that she and her New York Observer owner husband Jared Kushner are expecting.

Our last bit of baby news comes from singer Jewel and her husband, Ty Murray. The couple, who announced they were expecting at the beginning of January, discovered the sex of their baby. Jewel announced to People, "We would have been happy either way, of course, but we are so excited to be having a little boy."

Congratulations all 'round!

Oprah's Family Secret Revealed

A different sort of congratulations is in order for Ms. Winfrey. The media mogul announced the family secret Monday morning on her show, despite the fact that she's only known about it a few short months.

The secret? She has a sister!

Winfrey was told just before Thanksgiving about her half-sister, Patricia, who currently lives in Milwaukee. Patricia was given up for adoption by Oprah's mother, Vernita Lee, in 1963, shortly after she was born and a chunk of the girl's young life was spent in foster homes.

When Patricia began to dig into her family history, she learned that she had three siblings and her oldest sister lived with her father in Tennessee. When she tried to contact her birth mother through her adoption agency, she was shut down and told that her mother did not want to meet her.

Ironically, soon after this rejection, Patricia just happened to be watching television and saw an interview with Winfrey's mother in which she discussed her two other children, who had both passed away, which corresponded with information on Patricia's adoption records. In 2007, she met with one of Oprah's nieces, who consented to a DNA test. The test was positive.

After Oprah found out, she and her partner, Stedman Graham, went to Milwaukee to spend Thanksgiving with her long-lost sister. A truly amazing and heartfelt story, it was undoubtedly one of Oprah's most viewed episodes in her long television run.

Don't Forget. . .

The nominees for the Academy Awards will be announced Tuesday morning! Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the nominations and possible snubs that will undoubtedly occur. After The King's Speech beat out The Social Network for the big award of the night at The Producers Guild Awards, the Oscars nominees are anyone's guess.
