The Legendary Starfy for Nintendo DS

A Video Game Review

Ana Blanco
The Legendary Starfy is an entertaining but fairly easy Nintendo DS game that was released this past June 2009. It is actually the 5th game in a series in Japan, but the first to be released in North America.

It has an interesting, amusing storyline, great graphics and fun, adorable characters. The main character, Starfy, is a prince of a kingdom named Pufftop set in the clouds. Starfy and his sidekick, Moe, must help a mysterious bunny find his lost memory. You must fight villains, run, swim, and solve puzzles to win this game. There are a lot of stages you can select that are set in the ocean, mines and above ground. In these stages you can learn new abilities, such as the Air Jump. Starfy collects coins and treasure chests and also has the ability to shape shift to one of four new forms.

This game features several mini games that you can compete with up to three friends. Also, one of your friends can play along with you through the different stages as Starly, who is Starfy's sister.

The Legendary Starfy is not hard to play. Most enemies you can defeat with one or two hits and it is hard to be killed, as it is easy to regain your hearts. All the moves are explained and the game actually pauses for you to go over the information. It is addictive, especially the minigames. Minigames include, Coin Slinger, Fishing Derby and Depth Chargers.

More experienced and older gamers may find this game a little boring and easy, but it's perfect for young gamers and beginners. Also, this is a great game for all the Mario, Princess Peach and Kirby lovers. You can find Starfy at most retailers including Toys R Us, Gamestop, Wal-mart, Target and Amazon.com for approximately $29.99. It was definitely worth the buy. Not only did my 9 year old daughter enjoy it, so did her Mom and Dad.
