The Lexus RX - The Perfect Used or New Car for Moms

Shawna Straub
I personally drive a Lexus RX 330 and for small SUV's it takes the cake for performance, convenience and all over Mom needs. I'm really hard on my cars. Everything I've owned in the past from Nissan, Subaru (which held up pretty well), Chevrolet on down was pretty much destroyed when I was finished with it. My husband who is pretty anal about cost and quality tried to steer me away from a "costly" Lexus until we went through a Nissan Maxima and honestly had some challenges with maintaining it. I commute about 60 miles a day and between brakes with traffic, overall performance, and comfort (the Nissan seats were extremely uncomfortable on long drives) I missed my Lexus ES 300 that I had when I met my husband.

Thanks to some good luck we were able to purchase my Mom's RX out of its lease as she needed a minivan for all the babysitting of the grandkids she does. Her 2004 RX 330 is suiting me perfectly and will probably be at least a five year car for me. I would suggest purchasing an RX that model of 2005 or higher due to the fact those have the blue tooth option which mine did not. An aftermarket blue tooth (I have the Parrot) suffices just fine but if I had my choice a stock model for blue tooth would've been nice with all the new cell phone laws.

I never thought I would use the Navigation feature as much as I do but that is another option I highly suggest on these cars. Make sure to upgrade to the latest CD to make sure you have all the current roads as that cost me some time when looking for a business meeting that was at a newer home not on my map. Besides those two options the standard model is still like stepping into Beverly Hills compared to other SUVs. I absolutely love this car and whether you're a soccer Mom driving kids to practices or a working Mom that is spending half of her life in her vehicle you won't be disappointed if you purchase a Lexus.
