The LG Rumor: Not Quite Worth It

Rashawn Blanchard
The fast fingered text messaging crowd receives another weapon in its already extensive arsenal in the form of the LG Rumor. While LG may have figured that rumor would be a cute name for a multimedia device there's nothing really worth spreading around about their latest. There's nothing inherently wrong with the phone and for the most part it functions well, but in an age where innovation comes every season, it seems like a little more could have been thrown into the phone. So, before we get to any review or any conclusion, you're probably better off keeping your current device or waiting until the next big thing is released.

Presently the rumor is Sprint only, which of course means that you'd actually have to be a sprint customer in order to get it. Personally I haven't heard any good things about Sprint for years and this device certainly is no iPhone, so there's really no reason to think about switching. However, if you are on Sprint and looking for something to text your friends to death with, the Rumor does perform well. It features a QWERTY style keyboard, which is essential since most of us don't even know the name of the other variations and texting on a numeric keypad takes forever and a day. Also featured is that handy predictive feature, which means you won't have to type out every single word.

There's nothing special about the appearance in regards to other devices but it still manages to look good. The small size helps out and like we all want to be, you'll be see texting away at a tiny device in the middle of a busy street. The white is actually a bit more attractive than the black model, which is something of an oddity when regarding there's little difference between the two.

In features the rumor is shockingly pedestrian. Any hardcore text message fiend will find them self severely disappointed with the phone. The camera is pretty pathetic, meaning you won't be sending any clear pix messages with the rumor so make sure to cross that off of the list. When it comes down to it, the rumor is for a rookie when it comes to text messaging. The battery life has been listed at four to five hours by numerous sources, which isn't anything special or lacking either.

The performance, thankfully, is pretty good. Though its meant mainly for text messaging the sound clarity is pretty good and people will be able to understand you as well. When it comes down to it, there's something better to be had when it comes to text messaging devices, so give the LG Rumor a quick glance but keep your eyes moving.
