The Liberal Attack on Pam Tebow

'Pro-Choice' or 'Pro-Death'?

Unless you've been living in a cave for the past week or two you've heard all the hoopla centered around a television commercial sponsored by Focus on the Family scheduled to air during the upcoming Super Bowl on CBS. I'm talking about the ad promoting one woman's choice to not abort he unborn child. Her name is Pam Tebow. Pam was pregnant and had contracted dysentery while in the Philippines. Because of her condition and heavy medication she was advised by her doctor to abort her pregnancy. Pam chose not to have an abortion. She instead had a healthy baby boy she named Timothy Tebow. Thankfully, Pam survived and Tim grew up to be a strong and healthy child. In fact, he became an all-star quarterback for the Florida Gators where he won the Heisman Trophy and led the Gators to two championships. In the commercial, Pam proclaims how proud she is of her choice to not abort.

Feminist attorney Gloria Allred began the anti-Tebow campaign by saying Pam Tebow's story is complete fabrication and no less than an anti-abortion attack funded by Focus on the Family. The ad has come under fire by liberal organizations such as the National Organization for Women, the Feminist Majority Foundation, Abortion Access Project, Choice USA, and the National Abortion Rights Action League, just to name a few. Their viewpoint is that CBS should ban this commercial because of it's offensiveness to women. Jemhu Greene, president of the New York-based Women's Media Center said,"""An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year -- an event designed to bring Americans together".

In a letter to CBS, these so-called "pro-choice" groups collectively charge that, "Focus on the Family has waged war on non-traditional families, tried its hand at race baiting during the 2008 election, and is now attempting to use the Super Bowl to further ramp up the vitriolic rhetoric surrounding reproductive rights. By offering one of the most coveted advertising spots of the year to an anti-equality, anti-choice, homophobic organization, CBS is aligning itself with a political stance that will alienate viewers and discourage consumers from supporting its shows and advertisers. The decision to air this ad would be ethically, economically and politically disastrous for CBS."

These "pro-choice" organizations sound exactly the opposite. Their verbiage sounds more pro-death than anything else.

I can (kinda) see why they would not have wanted that commercial aired, but the way they went about it was entirely wrong. It's not like Pam's story was bashing abortion. The protesters could have gone about it an entirely different way

Well I'm not sure if feminist Gloria Allred is actually a woman. I find it offensive as a woman, that a story such as Pam's would be banned. Choice gives you two options not one.
