Flynn Carsen returns as the lovable nerdy librarian, protector of all historical artifacts that are stored in Metropolitan Public Library. He is sent on a quest to recover the map and key to King Solomon's Mines. He meets archeologist Emily Davenport, played by Gabrielle Anwar, who is quick to accompany on his quest in hopes that it will lead to information on King Solomon's wife, the Queen of Sheba. They encounter villains, booby traps, and chocolate loving hippos on their journey to King Solomon's Mines.
I am a huge fan of this series. I found the plot to be well written with no unnecessary violence and crude humor. I love the recurring characters played by Bob Newhart and Jane Curtain. Bob Newhart is awesome and I wish his part was a little bigger in this sequel. We got to see him kick butt in the first movie but in this movie he only has a couple motivation scenes. Still enjoyable but I hope he plays a bigger role in the next sequel.
I enjoyed the movie but the first Librarian movie is still my favorite because of the female lead. Sonya Walwag as Nicole Noone was excellent in Quest for the Spear. I was disappointed that she wasn't brought back for the sequel and there was no explanation for her absence. Why can't female leads be brought back in action adventurer sequels? Is Flynn going to be like James Bond and get a new girl every movie? I was irritated by this, especially since Gabrielle Anwar was so annoying. Her character wasn't even likeable and I was very happy when they parted ways at the end. Now if only they could get Nicole to make a reappearance in the third installment.
The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines is a great movie for the whole family. I give the movie 5 out of 5 stars
