The Life and RisingTimes of Kellie Pickler

How a Former Orphan Overcame the Obstacles in Life to Become a Country Music Star

Julie Boehlke
Country music star Kellie Pickler's life is a true rags to riches story. Not defined by money, but by the unexpected and unfortunate obstacles that life often deals out. Kellie, like many others, had to deal with abandonment issues from a very young age and has had quite the hard-knock life. Despite all of the trials and tribulations that Kellie has encountered in her life, she has come out on top.

While other people struggle with ways to cope with the sadness of their past, Kellie's outlet is her music. You can feel every emotion in all of her songs--because it comes straight from the heart.

On June 28, 1986 in Albermale, North Carolina, Kellie Pickler was born into this world--but the odds were already stacked against her. Her parents struggled from the very beginning to stay together and to provide a decent life for their young daughter.

Two years later her parents broke off their relationship with each other. Kellie's mother left, leaving her to be raised by her father--Bo. He worked hard to keep food on the table and keep his family going but it just wasn't enough. He turned to a ravaged life of drugs and alcohol abuse. Kellie's grandparent's decided to take her in to raise her and provide her with a better life.

The only true rock in Kellie's life was her grandmother, whom Kellie referred to as her "Angel". While she did her best to raise her, Kellie's grandmother had personal struggles of her own. She was stricken with a form of debilitating arthritis. That didn't stop her from sharing her love of country music with Kellie. Kellie remembers when she sat on her grandmother's front porch steps with her old gray boom box blasting away. Kellie would belt out and sing right along with some of her favorite country music artists--including her personal favorite--Dolly Parton.

Kellie has always had a special place for Dolly because she too started off with nothing and had big dreams to become a star!

Kellie put her dreams in motion! in 2005, she trekked off to the local American Idol auditions and made it through to Hollywood! She made it all the way to the top and landed the sixth spot on the popular singing show. This catapulted Kellie's career into high gear!

Before she knew it, Kellie was awarded a record deal with BNA records to launch her hit debut album "Small Town Girl." The album went certified gold, three months later and produced three top 15 singles on the country music charts.

Aside of her debut single hit "Red High Heels" which made it to the top of the charts, her second single released from the album, "I Wonder" is a true heartfelt tear jerker--sung from the soul of Kellie Pickler.

Kellie has been an inspiration to many women and children through the lyrics of this song. It shows that one should never give up on their dreams of making it big in life!

That was such a nice read. I like her too. I still am wowed by her hero, Dolly. Not because of the singing, I'm not a country fan, but because of the woman and her personality. I love to hear her talk.
