Great Crocodile Hunter
Steve Irwin was born February 22, 1962 to Lyn and Bob Irwin in Melbourne, Essendon. In 1970 they moved to Queensland. As a child Irwin became involved with the park in many ways, he took care of the animals, maintenance work, daily feeding, he was a natural. At the age of nine he began to handle his very first crocodile. Irwin followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a volunteer for the Queensland East Coast Crocodile management program. The Australia Zoo was own by his parents, later in 1991 it was turned over to Irwin. He met his wife Terri Raines at the park, in 1991 the two married in 1992 in Eugene, Oregon. She joined him in his adventures and efforts in almost every show. The Crocodile Hunter became successful in the US and UK by 1999. Steve Irwin also founded the Conservation Foundation, later renamed Wildlife Warriors Worldwide. Steve was an expert in wildlife, despite all the close calls with animals. Steve and Terri share two children a daughter, Bindi Sue Irwin she was born July 24, 1998, and a son Robert Clarence Irwin born December 1, 2003. Together Steve and Terri has operated a zoo and has made 52 episodes of "Croc Files" also several episodes of "The Crocodile Hunter".
Steve has the greatest respect and he understood animals. He was a passionate conservationist and he always believed in promoting environmentalism, and sharing his excitement about the natural world. On this sad day the 4th of September 2006, our wildlife warrior was fatally pierced in his chest by a stingray spine whilst snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef, at Batt Reef, which is off the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland. Irwin was shooting a documentary, to be called The Oceans Deadliest. The host of the show would have been his daughter Bindi. Steve climbed on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his heart. Irwin's body was flown to a morgue in Cairn. Steve Irwin will forever be missed, but never forgotten.

My son is doing a short story/poster report on The Life of Steve Irwin (God rest his soul), someone he truly admired, and still does. We enjoyed watching his television programs. They were fun, exciting, and very informative. We loved the Irwin family and I especially loved their close bond to one another. Steve Irwin will truly be forever loved and missed. Not nearly as much by us as his wife, children, and family ever will but loved & missed just the same. I thank God for blessing this world with such a caring, devoted, and inspiring man. He loved his work and it showed in everything that he did and said, a true animal lover & protector. God bless his family who was involved in everything that he did. He had us worried a couple of times (LOL), true enough but he was always professional, quick on his feet, and he was sure to let everyone watching him know that the things he did was not to be tried at home or unsupervised.
