A native of Conway in Arkansas, 2008 American Idol winner Kris Allen knew music was his true passion from the very beginning. Allen learned Viola and Guitar at a young age, and at the tender age of 13 Allen began taking an interest in singing. Later, he would go on to lead worship at the New Life Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

After watching American Idol, Allen knew the next major event he would participate in. Originally, he was going to audition in St. Louis, Missouri. However, due to his upcoming nuptials, he decided to audition in Louisville, Kentucky. Allen's audition choice of song was Leon Russell's "A Song For You". Even though the judges critiqued his personality, Allen still impressed the judges with his strong vocal talents. Allen went on to perform on the popular reality competition, and would make amazing reenditions of popular songs through either Guitar or Piano.

During the season of American Idol, Allen impressed judges with his cover of Ain't No Sunshine. He played the piano on this song, and received rave reviews from Randy Jackson who stated Kris Allen's verison was, "one of the best performances" that he had heard so far from the contestant. Allen also performed an Acoustic Guitar version of the popular hit single "Heartless" by Kanye West. His song choice helped earn him a top spot in the American Idol finale, and would go on to help him win the 2008 season, beating out Adam Lambert.

Allen went on to sign a recording contract with Simon Fuller's 19 Recordings, which is part of Jive Records. Allen has had numerous television appearances on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Jay Leno, and 20/20 just to name a few. When Allen isn't touring or performing, he likes to spend time with his wife Katy, and their family and friends.
