The Light of Day

Lisa R. Strong
The light of day is the rising sun;
A warm, yellow glow spreading;
Chasing the long shadows away;
Giving warmth to all living things;
It is a celebration of all things new;
Hope for what is to come;
Yet, it is more than light;
It is when good triumphs;
And evil must retreat;
It is when love is finally found;
After the heart has given up;
It is all positive change;
When a couple says, "I do";
When a newborn child arrives;
When one is freed from addiction;
When the unemployed father;
Can once again provide;
When the homeless find shelter;
When a troubled young girl remembers;
That she is not alone;
Sometimes the shadows must fall;
They lay dark across our hearts;
For we cannot appreciate light;
When there is no darkness;
God created both the light and the dark;
And he called it all "good".

    Thank you for this beautiful poem. Didn't realize others felt the same way I did about good and evil and God - His part and ours. We cannot choose - have freewill - without the experience of evil - whether it is to do or love someone who does or something inbetween. Blessings to you in the most positive of ways.

    We should appreciate both; the light and the dark. You are very wise lady, Lisa! :-)

    Wonderful, wonderful control over the rhythm -- changing it in the middle with the list. Tears. Very well done. Beautiful expression of loving generous ideas. SO well done.
