The Linguist's Poem

Steven Jacob Borthick
Russian, Spanish, Hindi, Chinese,
I want to learn all of these.
Every language, every tongue,
Learn all of them while I'm still young.
Conversations with Japs, though it's after taps,
Conversing in Dutch, can't lose my touch.

I'll travel the world,
You name it, I'll be there,
If there's land untouched,
My scent will be in the air.
And when I'm close by,
In their native tongue,
"It's the linguist!" they'll all cry!
