The Link Between Psychosis, Drug Treatments and Violence

What Do All the School Shootings Have in Common?

thetagold
Since 1988, the year after Prozac was approved for adult use, there have been 46 incidents of school violence. Of these: 18 were reported to be taking psychiatric drugs or withdrawing from them at the time; 18 kids, age 11 to 19, killed 47 people and wounded 104; 9 were on antidepressants; 5 on stimulants Ritalin or Dexedrine; 1 was taking a tranquilizer; and 3 others took unspecific psychiatric drugs.

How widespread is the drugging of our children by a profession that claims they are only helping? The Journal of American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry reported a 500 percent increase between 1987 and 2002 of children age 18 years and younger. 500%!

Reports of 930 acts of violence over an eight year period were caused by individuals of all ages shown to be on SSRI antidepressants. Does this sound alarming to anyone?

FDA warning labels are now mandatory on such drugs. Why then do we as a people continue to allow these drugs to exist? According to Harvard Medical School report, "people feel like jumping out of their skins... make people suicidal of homicidal.".

SSRI antidepressants are supposed to keep someone from suicide or homicide, but actually do just the opposite. If you look closely, you will see that the behavior induced by these drugs are similar to PCP, nethamphetamine and cocaine. What does that tell you?

What happens when a person stops? Nothing good. Withdraw is just as bad. Withdrawal from psychoactive drugs can cause rebound effects that exacerbate previous symptoms of a disease and new symptoms unrelated to the condition can be experienced by the patient. It is not unknown by the people who prescribe these drugs what the "side effects" can be. Not until recently were they forthright with the information. Why? Because the psychiatric profession makes a lot of money from the Pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the drugs.

As a father of three, I for one do not want this to continue. But it will not go away overnight. Also, realize it is a $billion dollar business, and pharmaceutical companies are not going to let go of their profits, no matter how many children die. It will take a committed effort to rid this country of an insidious disease.
