On May 2, 2009, the award-winning Broadway show, The Lion King, comes to the Mandalay Bay Theatre, Las Vegas, for the very first time. Preview performances of this Disney Theatrical Production begin on April 20. This production will also join six other highly successful companies of The Lion King in New York, London, Hamburg, Paris, Tokyo, and Fukuoka. Ticket prices, on-sale dates, and performance schedules will be announced later.

Per Disney.com, Bill Hornbuckle, president and chief operating officer of Mandalay Bay, said, "We are known for offering our guests exciting and spectacular entertainment options. The addition of The Lion King, one of the most successful production shows in history, will continue this tradition. We are certain The Lion King's international appeal will be embraced by Las Vegas locals and visitors alike."

This award-winning musical is based on the 1994 Disney animated film. This Broadway show first debuted on July 18, 1997 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Orpheum Theatre. According to Wikipedia, it is now Broadway's ninth longest-running show in history.

I caught this show when it came to the Midwest a couple of years ago. It really is one that I would go back to, again and again!
