The Little Celestial Light

Shirley A Mandel
Just a slim crescent
of a moon
lit the path home
on one dark night.

It was the color of rubies.

Isn't the blood of Christ
the color of such stones.

This little celestial light
is all I need
to lead me home
during Earth's dark night.
