A family of ducklings lived on
From deep at one end
A 'gator would fend
His wiley big snout in a yawn
The momma and pappa of ducks
Would shout oh so loudly with clucks
If gator got close
Or stuck out his nose
"Get up on the bank" they'd instruct
One day while the ducklings were wading
Old 'gator came sleepily fading
So close to their feet
He thought he'd a treat
Pappa duck jumped his back without waiting
The gator decided retreat
Would be oh so much more discreet
Than loosing an eye
For a taste of duck pie
So he swam off with all his big feet
In Winter there comes such a crowd
Of snow birds from out of the clouds
They come to retire
Grow fat on the mire
The squawking gets oh so darn loud
The farmer's wife can't stand the racket
Takes her gun off the kitchen wall bracket
With both barrels she shot
Not a bird even caught
For they all flew away in a packet
Now the little green pond again calm
Our family of ducks sing a song
To the farmer's dear wife
Who brought a good life
For no more had they worry or qualm
