Disney has produced a special message from Eric Seeley to interested fans that you can see here: http://advertising.disneyonbroadway.com/tlm/drewseeley/
The show is receiving consistently good reviews, is of course, family friendly (Disney recommends its shows for all children over the age of 6) and is even offering special deals and savings over the summer in an attempt to entice viewers. The show is brought to life in a similar way that the Broadway hit, "Beauty and the Beast" was, and you can expect a similar vibe from this 2 hour and 20 minute musical. (With one 15 minute intermission.)
Ticketmaster.com offers a short description of the show, saying, "Take a journey to the wonderful world under the sea and beyond your wildest dreams! Disney's The Little Mermaid will dazzle your eyes, delight your ears and capture your heart with its timeless tale, state-of-the-art stagecraft and irresistible songs-including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World." Time Magazine calls Mermaid "one of the most ravishing shows ever seen on a Broadway stage," and audiences agree."
If you visit the Ticketmaster website, you'll also be treated to a short preview video. This video is a great tool for kids who are going to go see the show and may not be prepared for the visual differences. Of course, this is a trade-off, as if you are taking kids you may want to keep the look of the musical a surprise.
But the Little Mermaid isn't the only Disney film to currently call The Great White Way home this summer. "Mary Poppins" and "The Lion King" are also currently running. For more detailed information on how to get tickets and show details, visit the informational site, www.disneyonbroadway.com
Having seen Disney's, "Beauty and the Beast" live onstage, I can tell you that Disney has set the bar high for, "The Little Mermaid".
