The Little Paper Boat

Blackwood
The Little Paper Boat In the pond and with the breeze and all along the bank
The little boat did swim and move till finally it sank
It blew and blew and floated along gliding with the wind
It mightily dashed and sailed along till finally did rend
The water tore and wore its strength of fragile paper sails
In doom it failed where as it began its journey tough as nails
Its master and commander though soon to be age eight
Was surely moved with wander to behold his dear boats fate
To build another would mean to sail and glide about again
He further knew the impending doom and of its very end
Despite the doom and all he knew one more he did set sail
It sailed away with dignity This journey sure to fail
The little boat did glide and sail and this one made its way
The second try was worth its time to sail another day.
