The Little Things to Do that Make a Big Difference in the Life Expectancy of Your Car

Sarah
Society today is already busy, too busy to attend the simple needs of your car. Think of your car as a living thing, it as well as well needs nurturing, caring and many other things to keep it alive. We usually abuse our cars to the point that we blame it for when it breaks down, when we need to look at ourselves. We ignore the simple everyday tasks of checking on our car, and then wonder why it fails us. Here are some things you should do regularly to make sure your car is running good.

1. Check the oil every time you fill your tank.

By doing this you check not only the level of your oil, but to see if you're burning or leaking oil. Make sure the oil is a dark/light brown color, not black, for you may be burning oil. Always remember the level and check the bottom of your car when it's been sitting to make sure your not leaking as well.

2. Check the fluids constantly.

Your windshield washer, brake, transmission and anything else that requires constant checking. Check them all and make sure they are full. It's not good going down the highway leaking break fluid.

3. Always start your car ahead of time in colder weather.

In colder whether your car needs to warm up to have a quality performance. The oil and other fluids need to get warm and moving around. Depending on how cold it is, ten minutes is usually good.

4. Change your oil on time, and use good performance oil.

With oil, the more expensive you go, the better quality. Make sure to change your oil on time, and check you miles in between oil changes.

5. If your stopping or a stop sign or anything thing else where you need to stop, stop fully.

When you yield and slow down then speed back up again, you're catching your car in between gears, and it wears on it.

6. Rotate your tires.

7. Wax your car.

Not only does washing then waxing make your car look good, but it also keeps the finish looking nice

8. Check your hoses, on everything.

9. Constantly check you tire pressure.

Low air on a tire not only makes driving harder; it also gives you low gas mileage.

10. If your car has a "cruise control" use it.

Using your cruise control saves you gas.

11. Fill your car all the way up.

When you use your car on low gas, you will use up much more, and have low gas mileage.

12. Slow down

Driving fast wears your tires twice as fast as tires that are on a car that drives 50 miles per hour.

13. Cool your car down

If you can, park in the shade or a cool area. Hot whether can ruin an interior
.
14. Don't procrastinate

If you hear a funny noise, or you know there is something wrong with your car, take it in as soon as possible. The longer you wait the worse it gets then the more money you spend.

15, Teach yourself simple mechanics

This in the long run, will save you money if you can do the minor things by yourself.

I gave you a "5" on this. I am not sure why it is rated so low. This is excellent advice and I could not agree more. I really wish that more people could be educated on the "small" things that they can do to ensure the life of their vehicle is increased. Thanks for sharing! I am looking forward to reading more of your work!
