The Liverpool Christmas Spirit

Liverpool has many hallowed and historical offspring. The long list includes the Beatles and many other music and entertainment giants. It also has been determined as a World Heritage site and is the current holder of the title "European Capital of Culture". Now on its eighth centennial year, Liverpool has recently hosted the hip MTV Europe Music Awards. This is a clear testament to the cities cultural expansiveness in a highly urbanized and progressive city.

Liverpool was found on the banks of the Mersey and as it grew as a city it has used the maritime industry as its main source of employment and development. But the best part of it, the city has become a vibrant metropolis with a growing economic center. Not only that, the city boasts of many tourist destinations and attractions. As evidence of this thriving city, it has more Grades I and Grade II listed edifices than any other city after London. The city also houses many art galleries, shopping centers, and a very eclectic party scene of bars and clubs. It also is steep in athletic lore as it is considered as home to Liverpool and Everton.

Thus it is highly recommended that spending Christmas in Liverpool, England would be both an enriching and entertaining experience. The time is now to be there as the European Capital of Culture, the scene is alive with numerous activities for every mood and mindset. Having winter roll around adds further excitement to the season. Expect Christmas carols to greet one with Santa and reindeer to boot. The city is going all out full out as is expected of the European Capital of Culture. Every Thursday from mid November to December, many activities will occur right in the streets of Liverpool. The schedule has reached fifty in number, each performer having their own repertoire. Brass bands, choir performances and street theater are sure to be seen even while walking the streets of the city.

Like many famous cities, Liverpool boasts its own Christmas market. It houses around forty different stalls with the wide variety of treasures from all across Europe. Not only is this a great place to shop for gifts, one can have wine right before one takes the shops by storm. There are even pantomime performances of man favorite fairy tales such as Cinderella and Mother Goose. Aside from these many other performances can be viewed while staying in Liverpool.
