The Lock & Lock Storage Container Product Review

Finally! a Leak Proof Food Storage Container

Betsy Lewis
Like a lot of people, I carry my lunch to work. Like many people I eat leftovers for lunch. Again, like many people, my leftovers consist of messy food. Sometimes I eat soup, sometimes stew, sometimes chili, sometimes cottage cheese. You name it. The problem with these kinds of foods is that they can be messy. They are not solid foods and therefore they can be wet and drippy. If you have ever attempted to take a container of soup or other kind of non-solid leftover food to work, you may find yourself with a mess on your hands if your food container leaked. Once a leak from a food storage container happens you think twice before taking sloppy leftovers for lunch any time in the near future. Of course, you can always be absolutely sure you never tip your food storage container, but accidents happen, your mind thinks of other things and all of a sudden you are dealing with a sloppy mess.

I found a product that seems to eliminate the "sloppy mess syndrome" of typical food storage containers. That product is the Lock & Lock food storage container and I absolutely love it. I actually have seen "container envy" at work and a few of my co-workers are heading to the grocery or other store to find their own Lock & Lock storage containers that fit their particular need.

I found my Lock & Lock storage container at my area grocery store. Taking a quick look online, however, I see that the Lock & Lock storage container is sold at many stores including http://www.drugstore.com, http://www.amazon.com and even on QVC, http://www.qvc.com, among others. I have three round Lock & Lock storage containers but by viewing this item online I see that the Lock & Lock storage container is available in numerous sizes and sets. Here's my list of pros and cons regarding the Lock & Lock storage container.

The Lock & Lock Storage Container PROS are:

1. The Lock & Lock containeris lightweight.
2. The containeris clear so you can see the contents.
3. The Lock & Lock is simple to use. The little wings on the lids (four of them) snap to the base of the storage container with just a little pressure.
4. The containers have a fantastic seal that, as far as I can tell, eliminates any leakage. I have never had a leak and I have had my storage container stored full, on its side and upside down.
5. The Lock & Lock comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and even comes in sets.
6. The food storage containers are food safe.
7. The Lock & Lock is dishwasher safe.
8. The food storage container is microwave safe.
9. The Lock & Lock is recyclable.
10. The containers can be nested for easy storage.
11. The Lock & Lock uses "environmental-friendly raw materials." This statement comes from the FAQ section of their Web site which I looked at because I was curious about the plastic.
12. The Lock & Lock is airtight.
13. Lock & Lock, at least according to their Web site, seems to be an environmental-friendly and human-friendly company and I like that a lot.
14. The Lock & Lock is reasonably priced.

Lock & Lock Storage Container PROS are:

1. In a perfect world I would like the Lock & Lock to have an area at the bottom or in the top that could be frozen so that the food could be kept cold, instead of having to have a separate fake ice wedge to put in my lunch bag.
2. The Lock & Lock does not seem to have an American manufacturing facility. However, there is a branch in Dallas, TX.
