The Logitech MM50 is a Top iPod Docking Station

Lila Rose
For anyone looking to buy an iPod docking station, there are more than enough options out there. However, if you are looking for one of the top choices, then you need not look any further that the Logitech mm50. Available in black or white (Ice White and Light Gray, to be exact), this portable docking station gives you a great sound, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, wireless remote, and more all at a great price. The Logitech mm50 is available online and at local retail stores around you so once you read this review you can pick up your own.

Best Battery

When you are picking between the numerous iPod docking stations available one of the most important decisions you can make is deciding on the type of battery you want. Among your choices are rechargeable batteries (like the lithium-ion battery in the Logitech mm50) or alkaline batteries. The bonus buy with this iPod docking station is that you do not have to constantly search, or buy, batteries to listen to your iPod.

In addition, the Logitech mm50's battery lasts up to ten hours, which is great if you take your docking station with you on the go. Ten hours is long enough to last a trip to the beach, the park, a barbeque, or just about anywhere. If you are at home and plugged in to a wall outlet your iPod will charge, as well as sync through the pass-through adaptor on the back.

Great Sound

For the price, the Logitech mm50 offers a great sound. In any song played through your iPod docking station, you'll get the highs, lows, and midrange even when playing an mp3 at a high volume. With 3" speakers, some iPod enthusiasts may question the quality of the Logitech mm50. Fear not, this docking station/speaker system is all about quality sound. Not only do you get a clear sound, but you can feel the bass through the floorboards too.

Wireless Remote

The Logitech mm50's wireless remote may not seem like a fantastic option until you have to go to your iPod docking station to switch between songs or adjust the volume. Included on the remote are buttons for play/pause, volume, next track, and previous track, which are in addition to the ones that are included on the speakers.

Portability

Portability may be the only con for some Logitech mm50 users. Yes, it is portable, but as a portable docking station, some iPod users believe it comes in a bit on the large and heavy side. However, the convenience of the travel case (and everything mentioned above) more than makes up for what some might consider "a little bulkiness."

If you are looking for top of the line, and willing to pay for it, you should check out Bose or Altec Lansing. If you are looking for an iPod docking station that is less expensive, there are a number of them that are worth what they cost. But, if you are looking for a docking station that balances quality and cost, the Logitech mm50 is a top choice.

The Logitech mm50 can be purchased in stores like Best Buy or it can be found online. The average price range for this iPod docking station is anywhere from $90 to $150, depending on where you buy it and how quickly you need it. Currently (as of 10/07), Amazon.com is selling the Logitech mm50 for approximately $110 while Newegg.com comes in with an excellent price of $90 for a retail model.
