London is one of the top tourist destinations in the world and is home to many museums. One of the most famous of all the museums in London is the Natural History Museum.

The Natural History Museum is located at Cromwell Road London SW7 5BD. The nearest Underground stop to it is the South Kensignton station which is very close to the museum. The hours are the same every day all seven days a week opening at 10AM and closing at 5:30 PM. The museum is free but donations are accepted.

One of the most famous of the museums exhibits is a cast of a dinosaur that has been nicknamed "Dippy." The original Dippy is located at the Carnegie Museum but since that museum was not yet open by the time The Natural History Museum put their version on display the Natural History cast copy was the first time the public got to see Dippy. The popularity of Dippy in it's early years lead to other museums around the world wanting copies and it is now the most common dinosaur skeleton in the world. Sharing space with Dippy is another popular skeleton of a Blue Whale.

One interesting specimen that the Natural History Museum has but is not on public display is one of the only known complete and freshly captured giant squids. The squid is named Archie but is not on display to the public at this time. Another unique specimen which is on display is the Dinocochlea which paleontologist have been arguing about what it actually is ever since it was discovered almost 90 years ago. One of the most unique of all the specimens is a recently discovered new species of insect that was found in the garden of the Natural History Museum.

The Darwin Center has a large collection of dead animals. Many of these animals are actually specimens that Charles Darwin collected in his historic travels. One of the most popular of all the exhibits is the dinosaur exhibit. One of the most popular things in the dinosaur exhibit is the animatronic T-Rex.

The Natural History Museum has more to its collection then just living and extinct animals. The Natural History Museum also has an excellent botany collection as well as a geological collection.

While there are many very old and popular exhibits such as Dippy there are also many newer more modern exhibits. Kids will love the interactive exhibits that the London Natural History Museum has. The museum is a mix of both traditional old style museum as well as modern museum. Some modern areas include the entrance to the Earth Galleries as well as the entrance to the Geological Museum.

The London Natural History Museum is one of the best museums of its kind. All of nature is exhibited here from plant, animal, and even ancient animals. Many of the exhibits are very unique and historical. The Natural History Museum is a great place to learn about Natural History. Kids will learn a lot thanks to the more modern interactive exhibits. If you have time to only go to one museum in London this one might be your best choice.
