The Long Journey Home

Peter Maida
"How's it going to be when you don't know me anymore?" These words, beautifully sung by the alternative rock group Third Eye Blind tell the story of Jim Mavelli. What if your family could look right at you and not know you? This is the fate Jim Mavelli chose for himself; a mistake that only a long journey could undo. This is the story of Jim's long journey home.

Jim loved Diane with all of his heart. But their love became twisted around one agonizing issue. This loving but troubled marriage, a chance meeting with the sinister terrorist Fernando, and a tempting way out lead Jim to a sudden and violent death.

Jim was gone but not gone. Away from all he knows he wanders through a new life filled with adventure that he had not planned for and a love he could not resist.

Joy and tragedy follow Jim in the form of the beautiful Tamara, the roaring Harleys of a California bike gang, and the shadowy presence of Fernando.

The turbulent events mount and Jim falls into a deep depression. A strong and caring psychologist rips him back to reality. After unveiling Jim's hidden anger she points Jim to the path home. But the path is full of many twists and turns. It is indeed a long journey home.
