The floaty frocks we've been living in all summer are going to have to move to the back of the closet this fall as tailored pieces hit the stores. We saw the trend emerging during the fall '08 shows of Jill Sander, Calvin Klein and YSL and we are now going to get the chance to take it to the streets. Celebs like Angelina Jolie and Katie Holmes have been working the look to their advantage for several seasons now. And if you still need more proof that this look works check out the August issue of Vogue, Kate Moss epitomizes the trend in a stunning Louis Vuitton off-white wool dress. It proves how easy and quick it is to go from rocker chic girl to a Fifth Avenue lady who lunches.

But the look isn't limited to couture or celebs. In fact, because it's all about staples that fit, it's one of the more affordable looks to stomp down the runway. Try stores like Club Monaco, Forever 21 and Bluefly.com to find tailored pieces at reasonable prices.

The key to making this style work for you it to keep it simple. Think dresses that skim your shape not cling to it, pencil skirts that hit you mid knee, trousers with fitted blazers they can even be denim trousers if you are going for a bit more casual look, a great pin- tucked shirt that shows off your waistline.

Two great things about tailored dressing are that it flatters most figures from the curvy hourglass to the boyishly straight and even though it's having a moment now it is certainly a trend that isn't trendy.
