The Love Story Beneath a Evergreen Palm Tree

SAIKAT KUMAR DUTTA
(This Poem is dedicated to my friend, philosopher and guide Tamara Hardison)

It is a good morning,
When a lip-red Palm tree suddenly calls me to say,
"How are you, my dearest Saikat and my heart beat darling?"
But,
It is a bad morning,
When the same tree with her pale leaves tells me,
"I am very ill today, and my health is not properly working."

It is a good afternoon,
When in my office lunch break I think of her,
And talk on imagination with her staying within a cold shining moon.
But,
It is a bad afternoon,
When I feel there is no moon except the hard hot sun at that time,
Staying on the reality, I think when shall I meet her, at late, or very soon.

It is a good evening,
When I find again that Palm as always good mood,
And talking with me by smiling and mirthful promisingly shining,
But,
It is a bad evening,
When I don't see her original mood of gracious whispering,
And I can't understand what inside her mind holding body happening.

It is a good night,
When I can touch the stems and the leaves of that Palm tree,
At the cold blowing breeze under a bright shelter of full moon light,
But,
It is a bad night,
When I can't touch my sweet palm tree due to my business,
And she can't kiss me standing on the loamy soil reaching at my forehead height.
