The Luxor Hotel and Casino - Best Place to Stay on the Las Vegas Strip

Before moving to Las Vegas a few months ago, I had only been to Las Vegas twice. The first time I stayed at the Excalibur, and the second time I stayed at The Luxor. I have been through almost every casino in this town and my personal favorite would be The Luxor. If you have never been to Las Vegas before and are planning a trip in the near future, I would definitely suggest staying here. The value, customer service, quality of gaming, food selection and everything else makes it one of a kind. I have never heard of any bad experiences here and I will tell you why.

Many people come to Las Vegas for the first time and decide to stay downtown because it is cheap. You couldn't pay me enough to stay down there. I have been in several hotel rooms and they are dirty and not kept up. The hotels on the strip are newer, and they have stricter hiring standards for their employees. In short, you get what you pay for. You can find all price ranges of hotels on the strip to fit any budget. The Luxor is low to moderate price and is actually a great deal for the money averaging about $80 a night.

The Luxor is the giant pyramid on the strip. It has an Egyptian theme throughout the whole hotel and casino which is fun just to walk around and admire. When you check into the hotel, or even when you make your reservations, I recommend requesting a pyramid room. They have hotel towers located in the rear of the property but you don't get the same experience as if you were to stay in the actual pyramid. I do not believe there is an additional cost to stay in there, I never paid any extra. If you do decide to stay in the pyramid you can ride the "Inclanators" to your room. They are elevators that go up sideways, not just up and down. They are kind of freaky the first time, but don't worry, you won't get sick like an amusement ride.

The standard hotel rooms are absolutely gorgeous. They also have the Egyptian theme. They are very spacious and super clean. The nice thing about all the hotels on the strip is that they have really good housekeeping. If you are staying there for more than a night, I would recommend tipping the housekeeper. Usually a buck or two is plenty, and they really do an excellent job. Also if you haven't been to Vegas before, you should know that tipping everywhere is recommended. Housekeepers, Bell hops, Drivers, Waiters and Waitresses just to name a few.

The actual casino has two floors. The main level has check in, casino gaming, a few restaurants, and most of the gift shops. The gaming floor is quite large and offers an array of slots and table games. I also like to take a stroll through all the gift shops as you will find lots of Egyptian themed items as well as items you may need on your trip (shampoo, camera batteries, etc.) The second floor includes more restaurants, a food court, gift shops, arcade, and the museum of King Tut. The food court includes McDonald's, Quiznos, Little Ceaser's Pizza and a few others. The buffet which is located downstairs is between $15-$20 but is well worth every penny. All food on the strip gets spendy, I recommend eating at the buffets so you get your money's worth. The arcade at the Luxor is decent sized, two floors, and offers ticket and non ticket games for all the kids.

The Luxor offers a lot of nightlife too. The big show to see at The Luxor is called Fantasy, which is fun to see for couples. I could spend hours in The Luxor just walking around and seeing the sights without spending a penny. That is what I like about this casino. There is so much to see you do not waste all of your money bored because you have nothing to do so all you do is gamble. There is so much to see on the strip even if you are not a gambler you can keep yourself plenty occupied. The Luxor is located between Mandalay Bay and The Excalibur at the south end of the strip. There is a free monorail that runs between the three casinos. You can also take walkways to plenty others and it is in a great location on the strip.

To sum it all up, I would recommend this hotel as my first choice to stay on the strip. You will get your moneys worth and have a great experience.
