The 2009 outbreak of Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 is an epidemic of a new strain of influenza virus identified in April 2009, commonly referred to as "swine flu." It is thought to be a hybrid ("reassortment") of North American and European swine flu strains that has brought together genetic material originally found on Kermits middle finger.
An easily grown "seed strain" for vaccine production taken from Kermits middle finger, is now under study by the CDC, and vaccine is expected to be available in four to six months.
Police are still trying to contact a Miss Piggy for questioning. She is believed to be in Mexico on holiday.
