The Man Inside the Johnson Space Center Has Killed Himself and a Hostage

There has definitly been a fair share of violence now thanks to what has happened at Virginia Tech not very long ago. However, there is a new breaking story that says a man, who is said to be armed, who has barricaded himself in NASA's Johnson Space Center, has killed himself and a hostage. The weapon of choice in this situation is said to be a handgun firearm. The Johnson Space Center is essentially used as a center for human spaceflight.

The Police Captain at the scene, Dwayne Ready, says that he has no idea what the man's real motives are . Ready describes the man as a caucasian man, at about age 50 or 60, and is armed with a single handgun.

According to FOX News, television reports have said that the man was an employee at Jacobs Engineering, a subcontractor company. Phone calls have been made to the officers at Jacobs Engineering, which is stationed in California, but no phone calls have been returned as of right now.

According to Yahoo! News, the armed man shot himself once in the head to kill himself, but fatally shot a hostage before killing himself, and injured another hostage, but did not kill him.

The Police Captain, Dwayne Ready, said that the first hostage was most likely killed in the first few minutes of the ordeal. (Dwayne Ready to Associated Press)

Roads to and from the NASA Johnson Space Center were blocked off, and other NASA employees watched in horror from a television in other buildings as well.

According to Yahoo! News, Christine Reichert, a space station flight controller, said that NASA employees were at first told to stay in their buildings due to the gunman.

John Prosser, the Jacob Engineering executive vice president had this to say:

"We understand it is one of our employees." (John Prosser to the Associated Press). This shows that the gunman was in fact one of their employees.

America seems to not be safe as of lately, especially after what has happened at Virginia Tech not too long ago. An investigation about the matter is currently underway, and the second hostage, the injured one, is currently being treated for their injuries. Emergency vehicles waited outside of the Johnsonn Space Center in case something like this did happen. I wish the best to all of NASA's employees, and the families of everyone either hurt or killed in this situation.
