In recent years many Alternative Medicine practitioners are recognizing that adding healing herbs to your arsenal in the fight against disease is a very wise choice. Today one of the most talked about natural herbs is called capsicum, which is found in cayenne pepper. It has been noted to have many benefits whether you decide to take it internally or externally. When taken internally, capsicum is a strong bactericide, which encourages healing and deflects infections while slowing the assimilation of fat in the intestines. It also has been shown to be helpful in the fight against obesity.

Because this natural herbal remedy Capsicum is a stimulant, it improves circulation. Capsicum has also been shown to stabilize blood pressure and lower cholesterol. Many Herbalists are finding that capsicum is useful in fighting a variety of ailments.

Capsicum is also loaded with Vitamin A, which is necessary for good eyesight and smooth skin. Vitamin A is also very beneficial because it has the ability to kill the free radicals, which bombard us on a daily basis. Vitamin C is another ingredient found in capsicum and has the ability to clear blood clots while eliminating plaque from the arteries, healing wounds and fighting colds. Because Capsicum has the ability to starve cancer cells and tumors of oxygen, it causes them to die.

The active ingredients in Capsicum have also been shown to stimulate the brain and salivary glands, which causes endorphins to be released into your body. Endorphins are nature's painkillers, which give us our feelings of pleasure. Capsicum has been used for years as the main ingredient in pain killing rubs for Arthritis and Diabetes as well as nerve damage.

Many herbalists today have recommended that capsicum be used for such ailments as sluggish metabolism, cold hands and feet; obesity and respiratory tract infections and it can also be used externally for arthritis, sore back muscles, rheumatism or sprains and bruises.

Several interesting studies were done to find out if capsicum would irritate or cause ulceration in the bowels but instead of causing irritation, the capsicum was actually found to be beneficial by speeding up the healing of ulcers because it caused the body to secrete more mucosa, which is the protective lining of the intestines.

One of the most surprising results of many of the clinical tests was that the capsicum was found to raise the metabolic rate and that it was also effective in the burning of the body's fat. This is a huge plus for the many Americans who are trying to find safe ways in which to take off additional body fat.

One downside to taking natural capsicum is that it causes a strong burning sensation but if you allow yourself to focus on the many health benefits that can be realized from taking capsicum, I'm sure you will agree that the benefits far outweigh any unpleasant effects that you may have while taking it. As an alternative one may consider taking capsicum in a capsule instead.
