The Many Health Benefits of Green Tea

Denise Nuttall
Drinking green tea has become a very popular occurrence in our society and it's not just because of how it tastes. The health benefits of green tea have long been heralded by experts and scientists and Eastern cultures have been drinking it for centuries for the same reasons. The health benefits of green tea are advertised in the commercials on TV and they are even described by diet enthusiasts as ingredients in their programs. The health benefits of green tea are that it can help you lose weight, it can help you fight off illness and it can even help with some diseases, including cancer.

Several Servings Daily

By drinking green tea several times daily, say with every meal, that should be enough to see the health benefits of green tea. It should be added, however, that some types of green tea contain caffeine so, if you are sensitive to caffeine, you should watch your intake of green tea because you wouldn't want to see any negative affects from this healthy tea.

If you have no problem with consuming much of it, however, drink it whenever you'd like. You can drink it before, during and after meals to ensure that you will feel full faster. The green tea also can satiate you between meals, essentially making you eat less. And, as anyone knows, the key to successful weight loss is to burn off more calories than you're taking in. By drinking the tea, you will eat less and eventually lose weight. And, if you continue to drink tea after you've lost the weight, you can effectively keep it off for good.

If you are diagnosed with a disease, or if you are sick, the antioxidants in green tea will assist your body's natural sickness and disease fighting abilities. People who drink green tea tend to be healthier and tend to be able to fight off illness better than people who don't regularly drink it.

It should be noted, however, that while there are many health benefits of green tea, you should still contact your doctor if you fall ill or if you have a disease. While green tea may assist you in the fight, it shouldn't be your only line of defense. You should also employ medicines and other health aides as directed by your doctor. However, if you incorporate the health benefits of green tea into your diet, you can ensure that you'll be as healthy as possible and the best part is that green tea is very inexpensive. The same probably can't be said for your doctor or his or her recommended medical care.
