The Many Uses of Dryer Sheets

Bandit
Although the manufacturer of dryer sheets recommends discarding each one after use, there are other uses for them in and around your home. Back in the 1960's when liquid fabric softener began appearing on store shelves, this was a great way to add that outdoor fresh smell to every load of laundry but trying to remember to add in the liquid fabric softener to the final rinse was a hassle. In the 1970's, liquid fabric softener manufacturers developed the dryer sheet, which are individual paper-thin pieces of cloth and are infused with fabric softener. You just pop one into the clothes dryer along with your load of laundry and when the clothes are dry, they smell crispy, fresh and clean. Here are some ideas that you can use today for dryer sheets.

Place a new dryer sheet inside of all of your photo albums and prevent that musty smell.

This also works great for all of your books that do not get read very often. Place a few dryer sheets between the pages.

Clean the screen on your computer with a used dryer sheet and the static electricity will be gone.

Since dryer sheets are designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe off your television screen with one. This will also help the dust to not settle as often.

You can even keep all the closets inside of your home smelling fresh and clean. Toss a few in and lay them on a shelf or hang them around in your closet.

Place two dryer sheets into your vacuum cleaner bag. Replace after each use.

Before you store your pieces of luggage toss a few sheets into each one and this will prevent that musty smell.
Got a stinky car? Place two or three sheets underneath the seats and step into freshness.

Dryer sheets work wonders to cut down on odors in the garbage can. Toss one inside before you place the bag back in.

Does you dog smell like a dog? Rub a few of unused dryer sheets over their fur and they will smell sunny fresh.

Does you cat's hair stand up on end from static electricity? Rub the fur using a new dryer sheet l. The fur will be even softer.

Wipe down the blinds on your windows with a few sheets and this will take the static out and this also helps the dust to accumulate less often.

Place one new dryer sheet inside each dresser drawer and keep your panties, bras and socks smelling fresh.

I also grab a few new dryer sheets to do the dusting in my house of all of my furniture. It works great. The dust clings to the sheets and does not fly around everywhere as it does with a regular duster.

Eliminate odors from the dirty laundry. Place one sheet in the bottom of your laundry hamper.

Do your sneakers smell so bad even the dog puts his nose up into the air? Place an unused dryer sheet inside of the sneakers and leave them in overnight.

If your hair has static electricity in it, take one new dryer sheet and rub in through your hair and poof the static is gone. Plus your hair smells yummy & sexy too.

Before you store items such as a sleeping bag, quilts or even blankets, you can toss a few dryer sheets in with them and help prevent them from getting that musty odor smell.

Every time your dog comes in from being outside wipe him down with a new dryer sheet. I do this on my own dog and he never has that doggy smell to him. This also keeps his fur softer.

You can use dryer sheets to polish and shine the chrome on motorcycles and vehicles.

Use dryer sheets to remove soap scum from shower tile.

Place a used dryer sheet in the holes where mice are coming into your house from. The mice will not chew through this. They hate the smell.

I can personally assure you that I have tried all of these tips myself and they really do work.

And We Thought That We Only Use Dryer Sheets In The Dryer! The Possibilities Are Endless.

These tips sound great! I keep a box of dryer sheets around, but I actually put liquid softener in a pump bottle and pump 3-4 squirts on an old wash cloth. I place the wash cloth in the dryer and it is good for about 3-4 dryer loads...then I squirt some more. I wash the wash cloth every other week and I'm good to go.

Wow! I've used dryer sheets as deodorizers in many places, but never thought about using them as TV/computer wipes. Are they okay on the new HD TVs? Also, too late since I don't work anymore, but would they stop skirts and pants from clinging to your panty-hose clad legs?

I had no idea that used dryer sheets would keep mice away. Living in a rural setting with a few outbuildings, this tip will come in quite handy. I've also read that cleaning a dirty pot or pan with a dryer sheet makes the job easier and faster.

I use them on my dog too :)
