The Marquette County Courthouse is located at 234 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette, MI 49855; just off the Marquette historic downtown district. Many interesting site-seeing and fact finding information about the historic Marquette County Courthouse and many other site-seeing attractions can be found right before arriving at the courthouse by stopping by the Marquette Chamber of Commerce located on US-41.

The Marquette County Courthouse was dedicated on September 17, 1904. Courthouse renovation took place in 1982. A re-dedication of the courthouse was held in September, 2004.

Atop of the stairs at the grand entrance of the Marquette County Courthouse alone serves as a site-seeing lookout surrendering views of Lake Superior, the decommissioned ore dock and the views of the above mentioned historic downtown skyline.

On the subject of history, the Marquette County Courthouse walls have seen more than it's fair share of such. The courthouse was where the set was staged for the Otto Peminger's film, 'Anatomy of a Murder.' The film stars James Stewart, George C. Scott, Lee Remick, and Ben Gazzara just to name a few. The film was based on Marquette's very own Michigan Supreme Court Justice John D. Voelker, written in 1952. The inside the Marquette County Courthouse is filled with static displays of he films memorabilia.

If the Marquette County Courthouse does not fill your need for site-seeing history, one may consider take a step back in time here in Marquette by stopping by the Marquette County History Museum.
