The Mauna Lani Spa's theme is "fire and ice," and the facility uses the natural lava of the area to create unique spa treatments, such as mud wraps using volcanic ash, seaweed wraps, and hot lava stone massages. Many of the treatment rooms are outdoors under thatch hales, or huts, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian breezes and garden landscape while being pampered. The focus at the spa is on Hawaiian tradition and products, and many of the lotions and oils used at the spa come from the resort's own garden. The Lava Sauna, made of lava blocks, offers a unique open-air treatment. Guests apply a purifying layer of black clay mud, then relax against the hot stone walls. After the sauna, a refreshing outdoor garden shower rinses off the mud.
In addition to the spa, this beautiful resort features two golf courses, a children's activity center, ten tennis courts, 27 acres of historic parkland, and over 15 acres of fishpond preserve. Manicured trails give guests the opportunity to explore the flora and fauna of this protected area. Two private beaches allow them to enjoy the clear, pristine Hawaiian waters. Two eighteen-hole golf courses, one the former site of the senior "skins" golf tournament, challenge players of all skill levels as they criss-cross the beautiful lava fields and flowered vistas of the Polynesian landscape.
The delicious, fresh Hawaiian produce, fish, and seafood served in five restaurants at Mauna Lani make healthy eating a treat. Choose from Mediterranean, continental, or Pacific Rim fare. A lovely and diverse Lapa'au, or healing garden, provides the freshest greens, herbs, and fruits as well as providing unique oils for use in the spa treatments.
The Mauna Lani Resort offers the best of old Hawaii combined with the latest technology and comforts. Relax at the Mauna Lani, and be pampered in the heart of Hawaiian history and tropical beauty.
