The McDonald's Trick to Getting Kids to Eat

It is all too common to find that your child only wants to eat junk food and McDonalds is often at the very top of the list. Fortunately, there is a method that you can use to keep your kids from starving themselves completely just because they refuse to eat anything except fast food. This trick may not work if your child is already old enough to figure out tricks and cheats!

Basically, what you do is save the Happy Meal box the next time you go to McDonalds, or any other favorite fast food restaurant. Keep the burger wrapper or nuggets box as well. You might even go so far as to spring for one of those fancy plastic cups that these fast food chains frequently come out with. Keep all these things safe in your cupboard.

When it is time to eat, simply place the child´s dinner into the Happy Meal box and serve him as if it were a McDonalds meal. Nine times out of ten, children are thrilled to eat just about anything presented in such an attractive package. You might still have difficulties getting vegetables into your little one, since most fast food places don´t tend to serve broccoli, but just about anything else should be accepted.

You can even take this a step further and fill the drink cup with a healthy beverage like iced tea or watered down fruit juice. If your child objects to this, try adding a lot of ice to a small amount of soda so that it ends up quite watered down. Far healthier than an entire jug of Pepsi! Try adding a dollar store treat to the Happy Meal box and you have the perfect way to get your child eating.

Some parents might be completely against this method, but if you have a major war on your hands every single time you sit down to dinner, sometimes it is worth a little cheating. This method is tried and true by a large number of families who enjoy relative peace at the dinner table these days . . . at least, until their children catch on!

The McDonald´s trick can be replaced with any fast food restaurant that your child enjoys. Your son loves Chinese takeout? Save and wash the little boxes (or even ask for extras) and serve his dinner with some soy sauce! The point is not to fight over food, to make it fun and to turn dinner into a family affair, enjoyable for all.
