The symbolic language of our dreams is individual and unique to the dreamer. The symbols you see in your dreams are trying to tell you a story and apply exclusively to your waking life. So, when it comes to interpreting your dreams there is no better expert than yourself.
Sometimes my interpretations won't seem to apply to you, the people around you or your current situation. If this happens, focus on your symbol; on its own and within the context of your dream. Look for clues about the symbol's meaning to you and its application to your personal circumstances.
The Meaning of Crying in Dreams
As in our waking life, crying in our dreams is typically symbolic of emotional pain. Crying can also be a way of releasing emotions that we've either denied or suppressed for some reason.
Look at the crying within the context of your entire dream. Are you alone or are there other people with you? Do you know why you are crying? Could the people around you be the clue to your tears? Have they caused this emotional response? What was happening just prior to your weeping?
Use the contents of your dream to identify what is causing you stress and emotional pain in your waking life. Perhaps there is something or someone that you need to deal with before you can move on. Is there a situation or person, in your waking life, that is the cause of intense emotional turmoil or that you are avoiding having to deal with?
Conversely, could crying, in your dream, be symbolic of tears of joy? In your waking life, have you recently and successfully resolved a difficult situation or dealt with a difficult person? Perhaps your tears, in this context, signal happy release and an end to your time of struggle.
Dreams are a window onto a hidden, secret part of us. Learn to look through that window and you'll be amazed! Understanding what we see, in our dream symbols, allows us an opportunity to strengthen our self knowledge and to live richer, more fulfilling lives.
