Dream Interpretation of Education and Learning

Dreams about schooling or education can be clear and helpful, or seem puzzling and without purpose. With a little analysis, however, their messages are often easier to recognize. Here are ideas of possible meanings for dreams about school and learning.

Literal Dreams About School, Education, and Learning

The easiest dreams to interpret are those that literally show us something about our current school attendance, or some other form of education we are pursuing. These meanings may show our innermost feelings about something or someone relevant, or other conditions we had been unaware of. For instance, if we have recently gone back to school after some years of working, our age difference may be on our mind. A dream might place us in a roomful of much younger students, but show them interested in what we have to say. In this case, the literal dream shows the big picture and positive aspects of the situation, something we may have been missing.

Or in another example, maybe we are involved in researching a topic with the goal of writing a book. A dream might show us having trouble finding the work time we need due to constant interruptions of our young child. This literal dream may be pointing out what is actually responsible for our slow pace of learning about the subject.

Symbolic Dreams About School, Education, and Learning

In other dreams, symbols are used to help us by clarifying issues or providing guidance for problem solving. We may have symbolic dreams about school attendance or education we are pursuing in waking life. Or we may have dreams in which school and learning symbols are used to illustration other situations.

Maybe, for example, we dream of receiving a lesson back from a correspondence course we are taking by mail. There are stamps from all over the world affixed to the return envelope. This dream could be showing our inner discontent with the speed our lessons are taking to get back to us - as if they were being sent all around the world, instead of directly to us. Accordingly, after this dream we might choose to question the situation to school personnel and rectify the situation.

In the second type of symbolic school dream, education related symbols are used within a dream to convey a message about something totally different. For instance, we may dream of being a student attending the first day of school. In the dream, not only do we not know where our classrooms are located, we also cannot open our lockers to obtain the supplies we need. This common dream theme often portrays our waking reality feelings of not being prepared for some other event or activity going on in our lives.
