The food here is rather expensive but incredibly delectable. The full experience starts out with your choice of cheese fondue. They have spicy cheese, Swiss, and Gruyere to name a few. Than they give you apples, bread, and other fruits to dip into the fondue. After your first course then there is a main course and this fondue is different. They will bring you either a hot broth or oil mixed with herbs to cook your choice of meats and fish into. You have your choice of buffalo, filet mignon, duck, chicken, tuna, lobster, and shrimp. This is family style so bring at least 3 people to join in on the delicious food. After you have gorged yourself on the main course than you can try one of the dessert fondues, of course chocolate is one of the many flavors. They will also carry other special dessert fondues, a caramel chocolate, a rocky road, or even a creamsicle flavor. They provide you with every fruit imaginable, marshmallows, and little pieces of cheesecake for dipping. Usually by this time you find that eating is difficult but you keep going because it is too tasty to stop.
The wine list at the Melting Pot is also very long and varied, and they will usually advise what wines will go better with each course. They do have cocktails but mostly the standard ones found at most restaurants.
They do have events within the Melting Pot but catering is not something they do for mostly the obvious reason of transporting issues. Also be prepared to shell out quite a bit of money for eating here, it is not rare to spend over 150.00 dollars on a family of four without the alcohol. You will usually see a lot of prom goers here and mother's day get togethers.
The Melting Pot is different from some of the other fondue restaurants because of the built in fondue pots, being usually a hair cheaper than others, and a menu that has much more than just fondue. You can get many different main courses that have nothing to do with dipping however I rarely see those coming out of the back. The fondue is the major pull for this restaurant.
Reservations can be made and should be for holidays otherwise it is usually not a long wait if at all for a table. Although this is classified as a fancy restaurant kids have fun because of the food dipping and it is a great place to teach them table manner while they are playing around. A great restaurant overall even for the prices.
