This year, for my 27th birthday, my boyfriend decided to take me out to dinner someplace a little fancier than we normally go. First we went out for drinks at Bahama Breeze, located adjacent to Towson Town Center, and then we took a short walk to The Melting Pot, a fondue-restaurant located right in downtown Towson, Maryland. When I got to The Melting Pot, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had never been to a fondue restaurant before. But I was very excited to try it, so I eagerly sat down and started to look at the menu. The drink menu was great, with several "signature" cocktails, but I was even more excited about the food.

The Melting Pot's menu is basically split up into various courses, with the price of your meal based on how many courses you get. Most people will get the full, four-course fondue dinner. At The Melting Pot in Towson, MD, this consisted of a cheese fondue appetizer, which included your choice of a few different melted cheeses, prepared into a fondue dip tableside, as well as a variety of "dippers" including bread and fruit. This was absolutely amazing, and probably my favorite part of the meal. Next is a salad (which was very fresh and wonderful), followed by your choice of entrees. I am a vegetarian so I was provided fresh vegetables, tofu, and pasta to prepare in the fondue pot, while my meat-eating boyfriend was given a variety of different meats and seafoods to prepare. Each vegetable or piece of meat gets boiled in the fondue pot for a few minutes, and while it takes a while to get through the meal, the taste is well worth it!

Finally is dessert, which is a chocolate fondue with fresh fruits and pastries for dipping. While dessert looked absolutely amazing, my boyfriend and I decided to come home for dessert instead of eating it there...next time we're at The Melting Pot, though, we'll definitely look into the dessert fondue. A very filling dinner and several rounds of drinks for the two of us came to just over $100, so The Melting Pot is definitely on the more expensive side of things. But if you are in the Towson, MD area and are looking for a unique dining experience, I would definitely consider The Melting Pot. The staff was very friendly, the service was great, the food was awesome, and the location was very convenient.
