The Mental Part of Exercise is Vital for Results

Kevin Smith
When it comes to exercise, there is the obvious physical part, but there is also a mental part. The mental part of exercise may be even more important than the physical part, because if you don't think you can do it, you won't do it. If you don't think that you can go an extra half a mile or do 5 more reps, you won't. Getting over the mental part of exercise is important to achieve your goals. The more you can mentally stand the hurt, the better results you will achieve.

When partnering up with someone in the gym who may say, they can't do anymore, I always challenge them to do another 2 reps or go for another 30 seconds strong. 99% of the time they do it even though they were just about to quit. The body is usually always willing to do more, but the mind tells it that it can't. When you fight those thoughts mentally you can usually get a second wind. Exercising with a partner can give you a great mental boost as long as they are pushing you a little bit. They can be that mental push you need, if you have trouble pushing yourself.

Exercise is all about reaching goals and getting to the next level. The only way you will be able to do that is if you are mentally ready to do it. If you have a weak mind, you can get over it. All you have to do is tell yourself to keep going when it starts to hurt. It's that easy. The more you do extra, the more you will be able to do the next time around. You don't have to do 5 extra reps the first time around. Push yourself to do 2 extra reps the first time around, and build from there. The same thing goes for cardio. If you are on the tredmill, go an extra 25 seconds or so before you finish. The more you do, the more chisled you body will be, and the quicker you will reach your goals.

The more pain you can put up with mentally while exercising, the faster you will see results. Pain is pretty much what getting back in shape is all about. If you don't feel it, the exercise is not working. This is the main reason why people quit and don't keep their New Years resolutions to get back in shape. You have to be ready to hurt mentally. The mind controls the body's tolerance for pain. When the mind doesn't think it hurts, the stressed area of the body won't feel pain.

The mental part of exercise is actually more important than the physical part of exercise. When your mind tells you that you can't do anymore reps or go another minute, your physical body stops. Mental control in your workout is vital to achieving your goals. Mentally being able to continue with your workout through the pain will help you get better results. Mental control not only helps with the exercising itself, it also helps you with your dieting.
