"The Mentalist" Season Finale: Patrick Jane Comes Face-to-face with Red John

NOTE: This is a spoiler alert if you have not watched the show.

In the first hour of the two hour season finale of "The Mentalist," the CBI investigates a robbery at a cash transfer business. A worker at the business robs the office of money and a list of clients.

He is to meet a worker at convenient store to give him the list. Once the police step in due to a call to the them about the robbery, the convenient store worker blows the worker up in the parking lot.

The worker leads the CBI on a wild goose chase. He did this in to get the list from them because it was put in the evidence locker.

When Lisbon goes to check out the last place on her list, she his knocked unconscious. The worker places a bomb on her too. As they catch the convenient store worker, LaRoche kills him because he claimed the man went for a gun.

Patrick Jane gets a visit from Hightower. She wants to turn herself in because she's tired of running and hiding. Jane concocts a way to catch Red John. He manages to get the list of suspects from LaRoche.

He takes the list of suspects, including LaRoche, through a game of cat and mouse at the hotel. As they find the friend of Red John, she jumps to her death from one of the rooms.

Since they interrupted her going to kidnap Hightower, she left behind clues in the room. Jane puts it togther after thinking the friend was Burnstrum, the director of the CBI. After talking to him at the mall, Jane realizes it was not him. He calls Van Pelt to warn her who the friend was.

Grace does not answer her phone because she was necking in the driveway of Hightower's hideout. She was kissing O'Laughlin, who she talked into going with her.

Jane finally gets ahold of Lisbon. When he tells her it's O'Laughlin, Lisbon and O'Laughlin pull their guns on each other. Craig shoots Teresa in the shoulder.

Hightower and Van Pelt shoot Craig and kill him. Lisbon makes a call to the last number from Craig's cell phone. When the man answers, she gives him the message about Craig being dead.

Patrick overhears the conversation to the man who is sitting a table away. When he confronts him, he finds it is Red John. After having a conversation and the man telling Jane how his wife and daughter smelled when he killed them, Patrick gets him to stop and turn around.

Patrick Jane walks up to him and shoots him three times. After he kills Red John, he sits down to finish his drink he ordered. When the mall police show up, he puts his hands on his head.

At this point, the CBI team does not know about Red John and Jane's meeting at the mall. Nor do they know Jane killed him.
