There are other television dramas that have psychics as main characters, but Simon Baker doesn't play a psychic, per se. Although Patrick Jane isn't exactly a psychic, he isn't a fake either because he has real abilities. He's more what can be referred to as highly intuitive and mentally gifted, and can expertly read the minds of suspects in order to help him solve crimes. The show is very action-filled, suspenseful and exciting as well, and although Patrick gathers clues crucial to solving the various cases pretty early-on in the show, the killer of course isn't revealed until the end, which is expected. It's just a reason to keep viewers absolutely hooked the entire hour-and it works, too.
The Mentalist should be voted the #1 primetime show on CBS because creators of this show were absolutely geniuses. Patrick is many things: handsome, quirky, bubbly, a mentally gifted detective, and single. His beautiful partner and the supporting characters are superb as well and only make the show even more interesting, if at all possible. They all work beautifully together to create a very popular hit primetime show that has over 16 million viewers each week. I know I'm a loyal viewer, but if you aren't, you may want to check out an episode to see what you are missing. Maybe you'll become an addict like me and the 16 million other viewers.

Post a CommentI could NOT agree with you more about Simon Baker. There is just "something" very special about him. I watch the show because of him.
